At the 10th Annual Awards of ESPNcricinfo, cricket players were awarded. The award winners were selected by an independent jury including former cricket veterans Ian Chappell, Mahela Jayawardene, Ramiz Raja, Isa Guha, Courtney Walsh, Mark Butcher, Simon Taufel and ESPNcricinfo senior editor Sambit Bal along with the writers and global correspondents. Since this year, ESPNcricinfo awarded women’s cricket for all three formats.
1. West Indies Hayley Williams has been awarded the Batting Performance of the Year for her match winning 66 runs of just 45 balls in the World T20 finals against 3 times champion Australia.
2. The talented New Zealand off-spinner, Leigh Kasperek was awarded as Bowling Performance of the Year for her 3/13 in the World T20 group match against Australia.
3. The Indian star batsman and skipper Virat Kohli was named Captain of the Year. Kohli led India team to win 9 Tests out of 12 Test matches.
4. The English star all-rounder Ben Stokes who bowls right-arm fast-medium pace and bats left-handed has won the Test Batting Performance of the Year for his 258 runs off just 198 balls against South Africa in Cape Town. Ben Stokes became the highest paid overseas player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2017.
5. Stuart Broad 6/17 in the 3rd Test against South Africa sweeps England to a series victory and this performance helped Stuart Broad to won the Test Bowling Performance of the Year (for 2nd year running).
6. The wicketkeeper left-handed batsman Quinton De Kock 178 runs of 113 balls with 16 fours and 11 sixes against Australia at Centurion in the 1st ODI (2nd highest score by a South African) and was voted as the ODI Batting Performance of the Year.
7. Sunil Narine the ‘mystery spinner’ from the Caribbean who bowls right-arm off break took 6/27 against South Africa in the Tri-Nation series at Guyana has been awarded with the ODI Bowling Performance of the Year.
8. The final match hero in the finals of T20 World Cup in Kolkata against the England after his 4 consecutive sixes to lift the World Cup, Carlos Brathwaite was awarded the T20 Batting Performance of the Year.
9. The left-arm fast bowler from Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman won the T20 Bowling Performance of the Year for his 5/22 against New Zealand in Kolkata.
10. The youngest Bangladesh star, Mehedi Hasan Miraz won the Debutant of the Year award for his 19 wickets in just 2 Test matches against England.
