Binod Das: No time for training so choose practice matches to be prepared for Asia Cup

Today, the U-19 Cricket Team of Nepal is going to Sri Lanka to participate in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup which has been scheduled from December 15 to December 23. The 15 members were selected from the talent hunt program which was held in different districts of Nepal.

Nepal is in Group A with the host team Sri Lanka, Malaysia and the defending champions India whereas in Group B Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Singapore are there. The tournament will be played in a round robin league and top two teams will enter the next round from each group. The head coach of Nepal U-19 team is Binod Das. “We can beat any team if Nepal U-19 team will play upto its potential and we had beaten teams like New Zealand and South Africa in the past and we surely can now also.”, he added. Nepal has not registered any victory over the Test playing nations in ACC U-19 Asia Cup tournament yet. India and Pakistan had defeated Nepal in the last two tournaments. Nepal failed to enter the 2nd round of tournament in 2012 and 2014.

Nepal will face against Sri Lanka on December 15 led by the former coach of Nepal Roy Luke Dias at Colombo Cricket Club Ground. On 16th December Nepal will face India and on 18th December will play against Malaysia. National Sports Council member secretary Keshab Kumar Bista with other members gave farewell to the Nepal U-19 team yesterday on Naxal, Kathmandu.
