Delhi on top of points table as Rahane’s ton goes in vain Letzcricket – Serving Nepali Cricket

Delhi Capitals have climbed to the top in the points table of ongoing VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) after defeating Rajasthan Royals in the 40th match of the tournament.

Ajinkya Rahane’s hundred along with new skipper Steve Smith’s half century took Rajasthan to 191/6 from their allotted 20 overs. Once, Rajasthan was looking good for over 200 but lack of late finish ended up below 200. Rahane played his best knock this tournament scoring unbeaten 105 runs off 63 balls including 11 fours and 3 sixes. Skipper Steve Smith scored 50 runs from 32 balls before being caught by Chris Morris. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi once again as he finished with the figures of 2-37.

Delhi in reply, got off to a brilliant start with Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw adding 72 runs for the opening stand. Prithvi scored 42 runs from 39 balls while Dhawan played well for his 27 ball 54 including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Rishabh Pant was the star for Delhi with the bat as he smashed 36 ball 78 to guide his team to victory line. Pant smashed 6 fours and 4 sixes as Delhi chased down the target of 192 runs with 4 balls and 6 wickets remaining.
