India survived the final day as Virat Kohli played a not out innings of 49 runs saving the Test match for India.
Early on the final day, England declared on 260/3 as soon as Cook got out, giving India to chase down the target of 310 runs from odd 49 overs.
England started off the day pretty well with Cook and H Hameed putting on a partnership of 180 runs for first wicket. The debutant H Hameed got out scoring 82 runs while AN Cook scored his fifth Test century in India, the most by a visiting batsmen. Later on, Ben Stokes played some fine shots scoring 29 runs from 29 balls.
M Vijay and G Gambhir started off the innings for India, but some fine bowling from Woakes early in the innings took the wicket of G Gambhir for a duck. India was seen struggling on 132/6 but the partnership of Kohli and Jadeja saved the day for India. AU Rashid managed to take 3 wickets but even he could snatch the victory for England.
Moeen Ali was adjusted the Man of the Match for his allround performance.
The second Test match is schedule to begin from Nov 17 at Visakhapatnam.
