Kings XI Punjab started their campaign in IPL 2017 with an impressive win over Rising Pune Supergiants by a margin of 6 wickets. Skipper Glenn Maxwell steered Punjab to a comfortable win with an unbeaten 44-run knock.
Having won the toss, Punjab elected to field first. Pune could manager 163/6 from their 20 overs. Ben Stokes was the top scorer with 50 runs while Manoj Tiwary scored 41 runs. An outstanding fifth-wicket partnership between Ben Stokes and Manoj Tiwary (61 runs off 37 balls with only two dots) made sure Pune to post 163 on the board. Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for Punjab with the figures of 2-33.
Hasim Amla scored 28 runs at the top while Vohra and Saha could manage only 14 each. Axar Patel played a cameo of 24. Maxwell remained notout on 44 while Miller was notout on 30 as Punjab registered win in their first match of the tournament.
