New Zealand level series 1-1 with a win at Rajkot Letzcricket – Serving Nepali Cricket

New Zealand defeated India by 40 runs in the second T20at Rajkot to level the series 1-1. Colin Munro was the star with the bat as he scored his second T20 century while Pacer Trent Boult took four wicketsas the Kiwis complete a comprehensive victory over India.

New Zealand won the toss and eleted to bat first. Openers Martin Guptill and Colin Munro put on a century run stand as New Zealand reached 100 runs in the 11th over. Guptill looked good for his 41 ball 45 wth 3 sixes and 3 fours before getting out to Yuzvendra Chahal. Munro smashed his second T20 century to remain unbeaten on 109 of just 58 deliveries with 7 fours and 7 sixes. Skipper Kane WIlliamson was out for 12 runs while Tom Bruce was notout on 18 runs. Debutant Mohammed Siraj went for 53 runs from his 4 overs picking up the wicket of Kane Williamson. Bhuvneswor Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah bowled well as they pulled things back in last couple of overs where New Zealand couldn’t score big.

Chasing 197-run target, India were restricted to 156/7 in 20 overs. Trent Boult led the attack with excellent figures of 4-34, with Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne and Ish Sodhi taking a wicket each. Boult got the wickets of both the openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma as India were struggling at 11/2. Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli added 54 runs before Iyer was out to Colin Munro. Hardik Pandya got out to Ish Sodhi for just 1 runs. MS Dhoni fought his way to a 37 ball 49 while the skipper Virat Kohli looked good for his 42 ball 65 with 8 fours and a six.
