New Zealand defeated India by 10 wickets in the first test at Wellington to take a 1-0 lead in the 2 match series.
India were allout for 191 runs in their second innings and the Kiwis were set a target of 9 runs to win the match. Openers Tom Latham and Tom Blundell saw the home side to victory line.
This is India’s first defeat in the ICC World Test Championship after 7 consecutive wins. India still comfortably placed at first position with 360 points followed by Australia with 296 points.

Tim Southee was the star for Kiwis with the ball. Indian batting struggled against the pace duo of Southee and Boult. Southee picked up 4 and 5 wickets in first and second innings to finish with 9 wickets in the match. Trent Boult picked up a wicket in first inning followed by 4 wickets in the second inning.
