India defeated New Zealand by 6 wickets in the second ODI at Pune to level 3 match series 1-1. India chased down a target of 231 runs with 6 wickets and four overs remaining.

India in reply lost opener Rohit Sharma early wihle skipper Virat Kohli was out for run a ball 29. Shikhar Dhawan (68) and Dinesh Karthik (64*) kept the scoreboard moving before Dhawan was out to Adam Milne. Hardik Pandya made a 31 balls 30 wihle :MS Dhoni remained unbeaten on 18 runs with 3 fours.
Bhuvneswor Kumar was named Man of the Match for his figures of 3-45. New Zealand had won the first match of the series at Mumbai while the series decider is to be played atKanpur on October 29.
