Rubina Chhetri gets a chance to train under Melbourne Renegades as International Cricket Corporation (ICC) has announced the names of eight associate rookies to be featured in Women’s Big Bash League. The joint initiative between ICC and Cricket Australia aims to develop emerging associate talents to the elite level. Rubina; the captain of Nepal Women’s Cricket team will now train under Melbourne Renegades Club for two weeks and attend home matches during that period.
The Women’s Big Bash League Associate Rookies Program provides chance for emerging associate players to get exposed to elite cricket.“The inaugural season of the WBBL was a great success last summer and through this initiative, players from associatecricket countries were able to be a part of that.” Interim Head of Global Development Andy Hobbs told official website of Cricket Australia.
Now, Rubina Chhetri becomes the first Nepali Women Cricketer to feature in Women’s Big Bash League in Australia. Sandeep Lamichhane is also playing cricket in Australia for Clarke’s Western Suburbs.
