Sandip Lamichhane to play for Clarke’s academy

Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke has invited Nepali leg-spinner Sandip Lamichhane to attend his cricket academy and play for his home club Western Suburbs in Sydney.

Clarke confirmed the invitation through his Facebook page and said he was ‘super excited to see Sandeep soon’

A statement by Western Suburbs also said Clarke is keen to assist Lamichhane develop his cricket calling him a fantastic young man who enjoys cricket and extremely passionate about the game.

Lamichhane will now play the 2016/17 season with Western Suburbs. Western Suburbs District Cricket Club, popularly known as Wests Magpies, plays in the 1st to 5th grade competition of Sydney Cricket Association (SCA).

Lamichhane had played alongside Clarke in the Hong Kong Blitz Twenty20 cricket tournament, a three-day event played on May 27-29. Impressed with the bowling skills of the Nepali teenager, Clarke had offered him a chance to play for his academy team in Sydney and had enquired about his free time to tour Australia.
